Taylor's 1989 is an album that really amazed me. I mean I have always liked her music but never had the drive to buy her album, pretty ironic. But that's beside the point. 1989 can be said to be a steer towards the pop genre rather than country style but Taylor's lyrics remain close to her specialty - breakups, love and so on. I particularly like her song 'Clean' not only because it's tune is soothing to hear but also due to the fact that the lyrics had some depth unlike some songs which lyrics don't make sense. I like the fact that Taylor's lyrics are very relatable and I guess this is a prerequisite for good song writers - life makes sense through music.
The path in any relationship isn't smooth sailing. In contrast, it's a roller coaster ride full of ups and down. Sometimes, you just lose the energy to go up again and tada, breakup occurs and you cry and cry till you're out of tears. As the lyrics goes, 'The drought was the very worse' (which is an analogy to the immediate breakup duration) you'll just feel terrible, like real terrible as if there's a constriction going on in your chest and it hurts so much that you can't breathe. Ok maybe I am exaggerating slightly but as for certainty, the deeper you love, the greater it hurts. I am no relationship guru but I have my fundamentals regarding relationship mostly due to friends around me who come to me with their relationship problems as well as my own personal experience. So to me, though droughts are really the worse, once the rain comes, you'll feel refreshed, clean and everything starts anew. When you breakup, you're not alone. There's plenty of people worldwide ending their relationship everyday, every single moment. So don't feel like you're stranded in a desert because the rain is just ahead. I guess breakup songs become popular as a result of this direction of marketing.
I have to admit that even though 'you're clean doesn't mean that you don't miss it'. The cure to all relationship problems is another relationship but that doesn't mean that you should just skip from one to another immediately by using the other person as a rebound. That's just wrong. Because you're still living in the shadow of your ex and it wouldn't be fair to any party either. Do not try to rush into a relationship without getting your head straight and finding out what you want. Often, we confuse company with love which is a delusion to divert our attention from the pain. That's why we need time. Time is of essence to get you head straight, to redefine your objective in life and to reexamine what you have never consider. Every past relationship is a lesson learnt. You know you finally had it when you don't feel anymore butterflies in your stomach when you see you ex and you very well know that getting back together is not what you want because there's a compelling reason why it failed in the first place. Lastly, when you truly let go, you'll find yourself blessing you ex because they are like friends which we had loved before and should feel happy for. That's when you'll realize that your finally free; free from the pain, free from the struggle, free from the past. The journey is not easy, but it's not undoable either. Strength comes with adversity. Find that strength, and you'll get through it. Life moves forward and not back. Though it's a cycle, we will always find the strength back again - that's what makes us human.
